CUNY-IIE is proud to announce that Edwidge Danticat will serve as the opening conference keynote speaker on March 8, 2025. Edwidge Danticat is the Wun Tsun Tam Mellon Professor of the Humanities in the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Columbia University. An acclaimed author of 17 books, including the children’s book Mama’s Nightingale: A Story of Immigration and Separation, Krik? Krak!, a National Book Award finalist, The Farming of Bones, an American Book Award winner, and Brother, I’m Dying, Danticat’s work delves into the Haitian experience and the complexities of migration. A 2009 MacArthur Fellow and recipient of numerous literary awards, her essay collection, We’re Alone, was released in Fall 2024.
